So after finishing book 2, I was hooked like an Amish kid on Doritos. Maas paints such distinct and fun characters in her writing! Amren, Cassian, Mor, and Azriel are all likeable in their own ways, and each with their own flaws. Maas has a gift for dialogue, and their banter was a lot of fun to read.

I got a little overwhelmed by the character dump about halfway through and honestly couldn't remember or bring myself to care about any of the new characters introduced at the alliance meeting, though the confrontation between Tamlin and the rest was soooo satisfying. What can I say? I love some good drama.
The final battle was well written. I loved when Cassian opened his can of whoop-ass on the field and showed just how incredible a fighter he is, despite all his joking around. All in all, the relationships between the major characters are what I loved the most about this series. When Amren sacrifices herself to burn the fleet, when Nesta throws herself on Cassian, when Rhys dies and Feyre freaks out... Man, this book was an emotional whirlwind for like the last 200 pages.

While I found the plot development a bit shaky and didn't really care about the new characters, I still enjoyed this book quite a bit.
